The best thing you can do is make it so that the flow of PAX is as efficient as possible and that you provide everything your PAX may require along the way with very minimal backtracking. You also have to take into account that a waiting flight could cause the next flight on the schedule to cancel due to not being able to reserve the gate. If there is a crowd at the desk when the scheduled time to depart is reached, everyone standing around, not in a queue line, will miss the flight. If you have no queue line, the plane will leave as soon as the last PAX checks their ticket at the scheduled departure time. I'm not certain how long they will wait but, wait they will. One thing they DO do is, if PAX are in a queue line, the airplane will wait for them. Millimeter-wave scanners use radiofrequency (non-ionizing) radiation. Many people prefer to be screened by imaging technology (X-ray machine) to reduce the likelihood of a pat-down. I do believe it helps to improve PAX rating, too. Airports use different kinds of screening equipment: Backscatter X-ray machines use very low levels of ionizing radiation. Just to make your Airport LOOK nice and organized. I have build up if I use body scanners so I only use metal detectors 4 level 1 c1t9b 5 yr. Que lines are for aesthetic purposes, mostly. For me body scanners are much slower than metal detectors.
